The Convention in Brief
Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology
The annual convention of the society is a gathering of life and social scientists, teachers, researchers, and other professionals involved in nature research. It serves as a forum for the presentation of research findings, sharing of knowledge, exchange of ideas, and discussion of topics related to nature research and education.
The 9th convention will focus on a theme: - “Nature in Crisis: A look at the social responsibility of universities, media, government, private sector and grassroots”. To be featured in this year’s convention are interesting plenary topics to be presented by well-known personalities in the academe,
media, government and private foundations in the utilization, protection and conservation in nature.
Likewise, updates in scientific research will also be presented by researcher-members from all parts of the country. The local organizing committee has exciting plans for the post-symposium tour to major tourist spots in the area.
Convention Activities
The first day of the convention will have activities to reach out to young high school and college researchers from all over the country who will be presenting their research projects in the form of oral and poster research papers, films on nature in crisis, protection and conservation issues to be shared to all members and participants of the convention.
The first day will also showcase the outstanding research projects of our scientists who will be competing for this year’s Best paper Awards. Cash Awards and Plaques of recognitions will be given to outstanding papers.
The second day of the convention will feature plenary papers of invited speakers who are known personalities in the academe, conservation and protection of nature.
The third day of the convention will feature the presentation of research papers, posters.
Oral/Poster Paper Presentations
We encourage presentation of experimental findings in the form of scientific papers and posters. Papers or Posters may be focused on an ongoing or recently completed research work involving nature. Abstracts should be submitted not later than February 15, 2009.
Best Paper Competition
We also solicit entries to the Best Research Project Competition in the secondary and tertiary level. These may include thesis or special projects or investigatory projects involving nature studies. We also invite researchers to submit manuscripts for the Best Paper Competitions, Finalists and winners will receive cash awards and plaques of recognition. An abstract of not more than 500 words (for
POSTER PAPERS) and full papers (for BEST RESEARCH entries) should be submitted by email or if by speed mail include a CD copy of the manuscript not later than March 21, 2009 addressed to:

About the Venue
limunsudan falls
The City of Iligan is a highly urbanized city in the province of Lanao del Norte. It is also known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls because there are about 20 waterfalls within the city. The famous waterfall in the city as well as the city’s landmark is the Maria Cristina Falls. Other famous waterfalls are the Tinago Falls, Mimbalut Falls, Abaga Falls and Dodiongan Falls. The City is also known for Timoga Springs, which has icy-cold and crystal-clear springs that flow freely to the swimming pools.
MSU-IIT is an autonomous external campus of the Mindanao State University system. It was chartered on 1968 thru RA 5363. As a center of excellence in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, MSUIIT
is composed of about 650 faculty members serving a total of 8,700 undergraduate and graduate students
in seven colleges.
